In-N-Out “Double-Double“ Burger Salad

Hello!

One of our go-to meals at our house are burger salads. They are easy, fast, and can be done so many ways!

While I enjoy a good burger, I much rather have a giant salad which is why I skip the bun and add a ridiculous amount of lettuce to a bowl.

I typically serve any burger salad with sweet potato fries. You can find my recipe here: Sweet Potato Fries. My recipe makes them in the oven, but today I made them in the air-fryer. If you own one, it’s way easier and it makes the fires much crispier. I tossed the sweet potato fries in olive oil and put them in the air-fryer for 15 minutes at 400 degrees F tossing once half way.

What brings the entire salad together, is the copy-cat spread. While it may not taste exactly like In-N-Out’s, it’s pretty darn close. The reason it’s (to be honest), not “as” good as the real deal is that I made it 100% sugar-free. I used a good quality mayo (Chosen Foods) and a good quality sugar-free Ketchup (Primal Kitchen). Using the spread and some ketchup, do the double fry dip please, it’s the best!

Enjoy!!!

Ingredients

For the Burgers

  • 1 lb. Ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp Ground pepper

In-N-Out Copy-cat Spread

  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise (I used: Chosen Foods Mayo)
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup (I used: Primal Kitchen Unsweetened Ketchup)
  • 2 Tbsp Dill Relish Do not use sweet relish.
  • 1 Tbsp Apple cider vinegar

For the Salad

  • 2 Heads of Romaine Lettuce
  • 2 Tomatoes I used a few red beef tomatoes. Slice into 1 cm thick slices.
  • 1 Onion 1 cm thick slices.

Instructions

  • Start by making the burgers. In a medium bowl, mix ground beef with salt and pepper.
  • Make 8 medium sized burgers, about 2 oz. each.
  • You can cook your burgers however you'd like. I grilled them in a large pan for about 3 minutes on each side.
  • Once the burgers are cooked to your liking, let them rest.
  • In the same pan, grill the slices of onion for about 2 minutes per side, set aside.
  • Next, make the copy-cat spread. In a small bowl, add the mayo, ketchup, dill relish, and vinegar. Mix well.
  • Next, assemble the salad. Start by rinsing and chopping the romaine lettuce.
  • Add the lettuce to large salad bowls.
  • To the lettuce, add the tomato slices, grilled onion, burgers and drizzle the spread over the entire thing. Optional, add ketchup.
